Bingo and social media has been in the news a lot in the last few weeks with the launch of the Friendzy Bingo platform, which is allowing users to play with real money on Facebook for the first time. However, online Bingo sites have been utilising social media for years now, so the concept of accruing players through social sites is nothing new, even if allowing them to play for money on the social platform is. Here, we look at how some of your favourite Bingo brands use social networking pages (not apps) to improve their offering, and gain more players.

Facebook

Probably the most prolific Bingo Facebook Page user is Foxy Bingo. With over 21,000 “likes”, they entertain fans with a mixture of humorous and promotional updates, plus some fun visual memes featuring Foxy himself. Their intention of interacting with players is clear and successful, given that posts by Foxy regularly get dozens of likes and promotional competitions see likes and shares hitting the hundreds. Here is a recent picture posted by Foxy, of Foxy “doing the Mo”, made famous by Mo Farah at the Olympics. This picture received 11 likes to date.

Another popular site on Facebook is Cheeky Bingo, who has gained 20,000 likers through their campaign of quirky, fun and jokey updates. Cheeky, like Foxy, have given their page a real personality, and the updates are funny and engaging. Engaging the users with updates often not related to bingo means that the relationships established with the player rests on more than just winning games, but becomes almost a friendship.

Facebook certainly allows for more successful interaction between users and fans, which seems to be the bingo players preferred form of keeping up to date with their favourite sites.

Twitter

Twitter is a growing platform for interaction with bingo players, certainly not yet as widely used Facebook. The short, snappy interaction style means it is popular with operators for promotional purposes, and for short, game play related queries. However, the fun certainly seems to be over at Facebook.

Gala Bingo operate a great Twitter site, with plenty of “retweet” opportunities plus genuine interaction with players. Gala will often tweet their players with good luck wishes and will reply to all who mention them, which explains why they have a whopping 6,200 followers.

Youtube

Youtube tends to be used by Bingo sites as a platform for their adverts or promotional videos, which they can then link to from Facebook or Twitter. Fewer players and users tend to “like” brands on Youtube, but it offers a great place for sites to showcase their brands and latest offers.

Foxy Bingo use regularly videos to help promote their bingo offering, and will schedule regular videos to engage players, with Foxy himself featured as well as celebrities and lookalikes. Here is an example of one such video, made to coincide with the Diamond Jubilee.
